Fabric Conditioning Agent
What are fabric conditioning agents used for?
The earliest fabric conditioning agents were developed to counteract the harsh feel of fabric after washing, due to the drying methods used at the time.
Nowadays, fabric conditioning agents are used to soften fabric as well as to prevent static cling.
How do they work?
Fabric conditioning agents are substances that have lubricant properties and good electrical conductivity. They coat the fabric in a thin layer to make the fibers feel smoother and to prevent buildup of static electricity.
Added benefits include making ironing clothes easier by improving the slip of clothes, increased resistance to stains, and reduction of wrinkling and pilling.
